Thousand Islands, Jakarta, Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education – The Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), through the Bureau of Communication and Public Relations (BKHM), continues to strengthen synergy and collaboration with the mass media as a strategic partner in disseminating information and communicating education policies. This effort was realized through the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education's Policy Dialogue with the Mass Media and a field visit to Tidung Island, Seribu Islands, Jakarta, on Thursday (June 25).

The event, attended by approximately 30 journalists from various national media outlets, aimed to strengthen the media's understanding of education policy implementation and document various good practices implemented by educational institutions in the archipelago. Upon arrival at Tidung Island, the BKHM delegation and media were greeted with arts and cultural performances by students from several schools on Tidung Island and the surrounding islands.

The Head of the Bureau of Communication and Public Relations of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Yudhistira Nugraha, said that the presence of mass media in the Seribu Islands is part of an effort to expand the reach of educational information to island regions and areas with special geographical characteristics.

"We brought our media colleagues to see firsthand the good educational practices in the Seribu Islands. We hope that the inspiring stories from teachers, students, and parents will be shared with the wider public. Jakarta is not just a landmass; it also has islands that hold many positive stories in education," said Yudhistira.

According to Yudhistira, the mass media plays a crucial role in building public understanding of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's priority programs. In addition to reporting, journalists are also encouraged to compile reflections on their experiences in the Thousand Islands as part of documenting good educational practices in the region.

On that occasion, Yudhistira also socialized a number of priority policies of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, including Deep Learning, the Learning Digitalization Program, Revitalization of Educational Units, and the 7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children Movement.

He explained that the Ministry of Education and Culture is currently focusing on three main approaches to improving the quality of education: developing educational infrastructure, strengthening pedagogical infrastructure through improving teacher competency and welfare, and developing cultural infrastructure through fostering positive character traits and a safe and comfortable school culture.

"We want to ensure that every Indonesian child receives quality education. Therefore, building facilities and infrastructure, improving teacher capacity, and fostering a positive school culture must go hand in hand," he explained.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Thohari, Head of the Seribu Islands Regency Education Sub-agency, expressed his appreciation for the visit by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's Education and Culture Agency (BKHM) and the media to Tidung Island. He stated that the event provided a crucial opportunity to introduce the Seribu Islands region's educational potential and achievements to the wider community.

"We are grateful for the presence of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and our media partners. Their presence provides a space for children to showcase their creativity and achievements. Through media publications, the public can see that education in the Seribu Islands continues to develop and provides equal opportunities for students to excel," said Thohari.

He explained that the Seribu Islands Administrative Regency provides education in dozens of educational units spread across six sub-districts, from Untung Jawa Island to Sabira Island in the northernmost region. Various educational programs, including the use of open spaces to develop students' talents and creativity, are continuously being developed to ensure every child receives the right to a quality education.

Through this activity, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education hopes that the closer relationship between the government and the mass media will strengthen the dissemination of accurate, constructive, and inspiring educational information.
