Officially Operating, SNT 10 Kupang Opens Space for NTT Students to Develop Talents and Aspirations

Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, August 12, 2026 — Integrated National School (SNT) 10 in Kupang Regency officially began its educational services for the 2026/2027 academic year in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The school's launch marked the implementation of a Friendly School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS), which marked the beginning of students' journey to familiarize themselves with the learning environment, teachers, new friends, and various opportunities to develop their potential.

SNT 10 Kupang exists as part of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's (Kemendikdasmen) efforts to bring quality education services closer to children in the region. From the outset, students are encouraged to identify and develop their interests, talents, and potential through learning experiences and various school activities.

The principal of SNT 10 Kupang, Ivan Rahas, stated that his interest in leading SNT stemmed from his experience teaching in South Korea through the Indonesian-Korean Teacher Exchange (IKTE) program. This experience gave him the opportunity to see firsthand the application of technology and the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Sports (STEAMS) approach, combined with the instillation of character values based on local wisdom.

"My interest in joining SNT 10 Kupang Regency stems from deep reflection on my teaching experience at IKTE. During the program, I witnessed firsthand how a world-class education system successfully combines cutting-edge technology with the STEAMS approach to instill character values based on local wisdom," said Ivan.

This experience also inspired Ivan to develop a student development plan at SNT 10 Kupang. He stated that the school will conduct an initial assessment to map each student's talents and interests upon enrollment. The results of this assessment will form the basis for developing extracurricular activities in the arts, sports, science, and religion, including opportunities for international collaborative classes with other countries, such as South Korea.

"I want SNT 10 Kupang Regency to be a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable learning environment for all students. I hope this school continues to grow, achieve many achievements, and produce alumni who will make their families and the Kupang Regency area proud," he said.

The implementation of MPLS at SNT 10 Kupang was also fully supported by the East Nusa Tenggara Education Quality Assurance Center (BPMP) and the Kupang Regency Government. On the first day, students participated in an opening and welcoming ceremony, an introduction to the school environment, facilities, teachers and educational staff, a socialization of the school's rules and curriculum programs, and educational games to foster collaboration.

SNT 10 Kupang science teacher Dian Ahmad Sasmito noted that student enthusiasm was a key factor in the MPLS implementation. He noted that students demonstrated courage in asking and answering questions, demonstrating enthusiasm and discipline from day one. "What's interesting about the students is that they are confident in their talents and self-confidence by actively answering and asking questions. This enthusiasm and discipline have also been fostered at SNT 10 Kupang," Ahmad said.

In identifying student potential, the teaching team conducts diagnostic assessments, direct observations, and considers parental support. This approach forms the basis for the school to provide services tailored to the diverse talents and interests of students.

"Of course, differences in student talents and interests present challenges in the development process, so developing diverse potential will be a challenge. However, with effective collaboration, SNT 10 Kupang will provide excellent services for developing talents and interests," he said.

In this regard, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, said that the implementation of SNT is part of the government's major efforts to build superior human resources towards the Golden Generation of Indonesia 2045. The commencement of SNT education services in the 2026/2027 academic year is also an important momentum in Indonesia's educational journey.

"The Integrated National School is a special education model that we have developed as an elaboration of the Presidential Instruction issued by the President and as part of the Indonesian nation's major effort to realize the Golden Generation of Indonesia 2045. The implementation of the Integrated National School is a new history because it will begin to be implemented in the 2026/2027 academic year," concluded Minister Abdul Mu'ti. *** (Author: Uly/Documentation: SNT 10 Kupang)
