Jakarta, August 29, 2025 - In its efforts to educate the nation, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has launched the Strengthening Digitalization of Learning program. This program not only distributes advanced devices such as Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs), laptops, and learning content media, but also aims to build a comprehensive and sustainable digital learning ecosystem.

Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Atip Latipulhayat, opened the event on Strengthening Digitalization of Learning by emphasizing that technology, particularly interactive boards he referred to as “big TVs” or “jumbo TVs,” are not a substitute for teachers, but rather a tool that enriches the learning process.

"So, it's important to note that this digitalization of education is not meant to replace the role of teachers; it absolutely cannot. Because education is a humanizing process, technology cannot replace it. Teachers remain the primary actors, guiding, directing, and ensuring that talented children actively participate in the learning process," he said in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 27).

Atip Latipulhayat gave an example of how technology can make it easier for teachers to explain complex topics. For example, when discussing international flight routes or activities on the International Space Station (ISS), teachers used to have to explain things repeatedly using difficult-to-understand terms. Now, with digital devices like interactive whiteboards or "jumbo TVs," abstract concepts can be visualized directly through images and videos. This method makes it easier for students to understand, as seeing directly is much clearer than simply listening to an explanation.

He also warned of the potential risk of digital addiction in children if technology is not used wisely and under teacher supervision. The digitalization of learning is expected to transform the learning ecosystem in Indonesia, focusing on the best interests of children and connecting technology with appropriate pedagogy.

This statement echoes that of the Special Staff of the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education for Learning, Arif Jamali, who highlighted the importance of ensuring that each of these devices provides a real positive impact on early childhood education.

Strategies in Optimizing Digital Learning

In a report by the Director of Early Childhood Education (PAUD), Nia Nurhasanah, it was revealed that by 2025, 64,191 PAUD units will receive digitalization assistance. However, the distribution of this assistance is only the first step. The real challenge is ensuring that teachers throughout Indonesia, especially in remote areas, can make the most of this technology.

To address these challenges, Nia Nurhasanah has developed a strategy: technical guidance (bimtek) for digitalizing offline and online learning, as well as collaboration with Technical Implementation Units (UPT) for mentoring. This activity, involving 5,400 people offline and 58,791 online, demonstrates the government's commitment to equitable education quality.*** (Author: Avina)
