Jakarta, October 15, 2025 - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) through the Directorate General of Teachers, Education Personnel, and Teacher Education (Ditjen GTKPG) officially opened the selection of Teacher Professional Education (PPG) for Prospective Teachers in 2025. The selection registration is open from October 14, 2025 to November 6, 2025 through the official website https://ppg.kemendikdasmen.go.id. This program is a strategic effort of the Ministry of Education and Culture in fulfilling the constitutional mandate to prepare prospective teachers who are professional and have noble character in order to realize quality education for all.
The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, emphasized that improving teacher competence and welfare is one of the Ministry of Education and Culture's priority programs.
"PPG is not just a formality or a matter of numbers, but rather about developing truly qualified teachers. Teachers are not only agents of learning, but also agents of civilization. Therefore, the PPG program must be implemented with full accountability and a spirit of enlightening the nation," said Abdul Mu'ti some time ago during the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Teacher Professional Education Institution (LPTK) for the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Program in Jakarta.
The Director General of Teachers, Education Personnel, and Teacher Education, Nunuk Suryani, stated that every teacher is required to have a teacher certificate as proof of professionalism and competence. "Through the PPG program for prospective teachers, the government ensures that teachers receive official recognition as professional educators, which is expected to improve the quality of learning, ensure teacher welfare, and provide more equitable and just education services," Nunuk explained.
The 2025 Prospective Teacher Training Program (PPG) will be held to meet the need for teachers and educational staff throughout Indonesia. Quotas are determined based on the Basic Educator Data (Dapodik) and a national teacher needs analysis, and are implemented by Teacher Training Institutions (LPTK) that have licensed PPG study programs. With this initiative, the government is committed to producing quality teachers who are ready to teach, inspire, and support the development of a superior future generation.
Requirements and Fields of Study
Prospective participants in the 2025 PPG selection must meet several key requirements. First, participants must be Indonesian citizens (WNI) with a maximum age of 32 years as of December 31, 2025. Furthermore, prospective participants must hold a bachelor's degree (S-1) or diploma four (D-IV) registered in the Higher Education Database (PD-Dikti) or have been equivalent for foreign graduates, with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00. These requirements are established to ensure that prospective teachers have adequate academic qualifications as a foundation for professionalism in carrying out educational duties.
The study areas offered in the 2025 PPG program include 12 general and 12 vocational fields. These areas of study are aligned with the projected national teacher needs for 2027, thus aligning with the direction of medium-term educational development.
Government Commitment and Funding Scheme
As a demonstration of the government's commitment to preparing quality teachers, the government will fully cover the Rp 17 million (approximately US$1,000) tuition fees for two semesters through a government assistance scheme. Participants will be charged a Rp 200,000 (approximately US$1,000) registration fee. This scheme provides prospective teachers with an equal opportunity to pursue professional education without financial constraints. Lectures will take place over two semesters at the host LPTK (Learning Institution for Teacher Training) based on the province chosen by the prospective student.
Selection Stages and Schedule
The PPG Prospective Teacher selection process will last until the end of December 2025. The final results will be announced in January 2026 along with the determination of PPG students, the implementation of orientation, and the start of lectures.
Prospects and Absorption of Graduates
To ensure the successful recruitment of PPG graduates, the Directorate General of Teacher and Education Teacher Training (GTKPG) maintains ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPANRB) regarding the policy for opening ASN PPPK positions and other ministries/agencies, local governments, which hold the authority to recruit teachers according to regional needs, and foundations or private parties authorized to recruit educators in private schools. This synergy is crucial to ensure that PPG graduates are not only competently prepared but also able to be absorbed according to national education needs.
Through the 2025 PPG for Prospective Teachers, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education affirms its commitment to preparing Indonesian teachers who are professional, innovative, and globally competitive.
