Mappi Regency, South Papua, November 4, 2025 – Indonesian education continues to transform to promote higher-quality and measurable learning. One such effort is being implemented by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) through the implementation of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) in 2025.

For the first time, TKA was held simultaneously across Indonesia for high school and vocational high school students, including in Mappi Regency, South Papua Province. Monitoring by the Papua Province Education Quality Assurance Center (BPMP) team showed that TKA implementation in Mappi Regency went smoothly at SMA Negeri 1 Obba and SMK Negeri 1 Technology and Engineering.

This success story was shared by the Principal of SMA Negeri 1 Obaa, Jermina H. Risamasu. "Thank God, the implementation of the TKA at SMA Negeri 1 Obba has gone according to plan. Although there were some initial internet issues, our team was able to address them effectively, and everything ran smoothly," said Jermina.

Jermina further explained that the smooth implementation of the TKA at her school was also due to the support of the students' parents. "Besides technical factors, this smooth implementation was also the result of the meetings we held with parents to convey the importance of TKA. They were fully supportive, some even preparing meals for their children during the simulation and tutoring sessions before the test," she added.

Furthermore, the Principal of SMK Negeri 1 Technology and Engineering Mappi, Yohannis Ohoilulin, stated that his school had made every effort to ensure the success of the TKA program. He stated that the implementation of the TKA program aligns closely with the Mappi Regency Government's vision and mission to produce 1,000 graduates in Mappi Regency.

"We strongly support the Ministry of Education and Culture's program to organize TKA (Teacher Training) with thorough preparation. We hope our students participating in TKA achieve the best results and play a major role in producing 1,000 graduates in Mappi Regency," said Ohoilulin.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua Province BPMP, Junus Simangunsong, expressed his appreciation to the local education office and schools for supporting the Ministry of Education and Culture's program, particularly in implementing TKA. "TKA are essential as validators of educational quality and as objective reporting tools for individual academic achievement. Thank you to all parties who have worked hard to ensure the success of the TKA implementation in Mappi Regency," said Junus.

Meanwhile, one of the TKA participants from SMK Negeri 1 Technology and Engineering, Aprilia, was very enthusiastic about participating in the TKA and assessed that the implementation of the TKA would provide great benefits for herself and her class of 2025. "We are happy to participate in the TKA because we can find out the extent of our academic abilities. This helps us determine the appropriate major or further education," explained Aprilia.

Echoing Aprilia, Daud, another TKA participant from Obaa State High School 1, said that the TKA was a new experience and a milestone for him. He found it to be a new motivation in his learning process, and he even noted that it also helped him develop his honesty and discipline.

"At school, we've been working hard during the preparation period. We've also been taught how to approach foreign workers with honesty and enthusiasm. I hope this TKA implementation yields the best results for me personally," Daud concluded.

Through this TKA, it is hoped that students in Papua, particularly in Mappi Regency, South Papua, can recognize their potential and continuously improve their academic abilities.
