Jakarta, December 2, 2025 – The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues its efforts to restore education in three disaster-affected provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar). Kemendikdasmen is currently assessing damaged schools, mapping needs to ensure children can continue learning, and providing psychosocial services to victims.

"On behalf of myself and the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education, I express my deepest condolences to the communities affected by this disaster. The Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education has allocated Rp13.3 billion for flood and landslide relief in the three provinces. In addition, we are also collecting funds through the Zakat Collection Unit of the National Zakat Agency (UPZ Baznas) of the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education for those who wish to participate in assisting the disaster victims," said the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education (Mendidkasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, in Jakarta, Monday (1/12).

Regarding aid distribution, Minister Mu'ti explained that the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has prepared school supplies and other assistance for students affected by the disaster. However, access to the affected areas is currently being restored. Therefore, the Ministry is currently in close communication with regional Technical Implementation Units (UPT) to assess damaged schools and educational facilities and identify the assistance needed by the victims.

Furthermore, Minister Mu'ti also called on all parties to work together to assist the disaster victims. According to him, the most important thing right now is to ensure that the victims are properly cared for.

"Once accurate data has been collected, we can then develop steps to ensure learning takes place.
