Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education: 150 LPDP Alumni Present as Digital Learning Partners in 3T Regions

Jakarta, April 3, 2026 - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) are once again strengthening educational transformation by assigning 150 LPDP alumni to the Digital Warrior Alumni program. The alumni were officially released by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming and Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti at the Auditorium of the Vice President's Secretariat Office in Jakarta on Thursday (April 2).

The alumni will serve for 12 weeks in 150 elementary schools (SD) in four regencies in the frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged (3T) regions: Merauke (North Maluku), North Halmahera (South Papua), Kupang (East Nusa Tenggara), and Sumedang (West Java). This program is part of an effort to accelerate the use of Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) devices, or Interactive Digital Boards (PID), which have been distributed to schools throughout Indonesia.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti emphasized that the presence of alumni is not to replace the role of teachers but rather as strategic partners in providing more interactive and meaningful learning.

"Participants are not present as substitutes for teachers, but as digital learning partners and innovation partners, working together to provide more engaging and relevant learning for students," said the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education in his remarks.

He also emphasized that LPDP alumni are the nation's finest sons and daughters who chose to return and serve after studying at various universities in Indonesia and abroad.

This program is designed with four main focuses, namely familiarizing students with the use of technology in learning, strengthening teacher competencies through interactive learning practices, developing a digital culture in schools, and developing a sustainable digitalization strategy.

To ensure field readiness, participants have undergone intensive training covering pedagogy, digital device operation, learning content curation, and teaching practice or microteaching . Each alumnus will be placed in a school to ensure optimal mentoring and immediate impact.

The use of IFP is a crucial entry point for driving learning transformation. This device enables teachers to present materials through videos, educational games, and interactive content that support student literacy and numeracy development. However, distributing the devices alone is not enough; mentoring is essential to ensure the technology is truly used effectively in the classroom.

Participant Commitment: Serving the Country, Driving Progress
One of the participants, San Paris, an alumnus of the Bandung Institute of Technology who will be assigned to North Halmahera, expressed his motivation to return to his hometown and contribute directly to education. He believes the training he received helped him understand pedagogical approaches, despite his non-teaching background. He hopes to assist teachers in developing more meaningful and enjoyable learning approaches.

Meanwhile, Oki Ramadani, a University of Sheffield alumnus who will be assigned to Merauke, has high hopes for improving student confidence through the use of technology. He believes access to digital tools like the IFP will help students become more familiar with technology and keep up with those in other regions.

The Digital Warrior Alumni Program is expected to be a driver of change in the educational environment, while strengthening collaboration between the government, schools, and the community.*** (Author: Uly/Editor: Denty A., Seno H./Photographer: Laili)
