Jakarta, June 13, 2026 – Quality Education for All is the government's primary commitment to realizing President Prabowo Subianto's fourth Asta Cita, namely strengthening human resource development (HRD), science, technology, education, health, sports achievements, gender equality, and strengthening the roles of women, youth, and people with disabilities. In the education sector, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to strive to realize this, including through the Education Unit Revitalization program, Learning Digitalization, and several programs to improve teacher welfare and competence.
During his meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace on Thursday (June 11), Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti outlined progress on several of the ministry's priority programs. Regarding the Revitalization of Educational Units, he explained that by 2025, the revitalization program had been 100 percent realized, reaching 16,167 educational units with a total budget of over Rp16.9 trillion.
Furthermore, the 2026 revitalization project has reached nearly 70 percent of its initial allocation. Construction has begun on 11,744 educational units, with completion expected in July and August 2026. This will allow the new revitalized buildings to be used by the school community at the start of the 2026/2027 academic year.
"Through the self-management scheme, the revitalization program will not only improve the quality of education but also provide significant economic benefits to the community. The self-management scheme is estimated to absorb around 1.1 million workers with a work period of between three and eight months," explained Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (June 11).
In addition to improving the quality of education through revitalization, Minister Abdul Mu'ti stated that by 2025, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education had also distributed 288,865 Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs) to educational institutions across Indonesia. These devices are now being utilized in the learning process, and studies have shown their contribution to improving the quality of learning and student motivation.
Improving Teacher Welfare and Competence
Regarding teacher quality improvement, Minister Abdul Mu'ti emphasized President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to improving the welfare and competence of Indonesian educators. Regarding the Teacher Professional Allowance (TPG), the Ministry of Education and Culture has distributed one monthly base salary to ASN teachers directly into their accounts. Meanwhile, certified non-ASN teachers also receive an allowance of Rp 2 million per month.
"This policy demonstrates the President's commitment to simplifying the bureaucracy so that teachers can directly benefit from the program," said Minister Mu'ti.
Furthermore, Minister Abdul Mu'ti also explained the improvement of teacher competency through an education scholarship program. By 2025, the Ministry of Education and Culture will provide scholarships to 12,500 teachers who do not yet have a Diploma 4 or Bachelor's degree through the Prior Learning Recognition (RPL) scheme, with assistance of Rp 3 million per person per semester.
In 2026, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education will continue and expand the program's scope by allocating scholarships to 150,000 teachers who do not yet have a Diploma 4 or Bachelor's degree, with the same amount of assistance. "The program is now in its second semester. We hope that President Prabowo Subianto will attend and graduate all teachers who receive assistance from the program," the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education concluded.*** (Author: Destian/Photographer: Palace Documentation)
