Jakarta, July 2, 2026 – The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) through the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel (Ditjen GTK) officially opened the Teacher Professional Education Selection (PPG) for Prospective Teachers in 2026. Registration is open from June 27 to July 25, 2026 through the official PPG Kemendikdasmen website.

The PPG program is aimed at college graduates who want to pursue a career as professional teachers. Through PPG, participants will undergo professional education and have the opportunity to obtain a teacher certificate, which is one of the requirements for teacher recruitment at institutions seeking educators.

Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel (Dirjen GTK) Nunuk Suryani said that the PPG program for Prospective Teachers is the government's commitment to preparing teachers who are not only professionals with integrity, but also role models and able to answer the challenges of 21st-century education.

"Through the PPG for Prospective Teachers, higher education graduates will have the opportunity to obtain a teacher certificate ready to teach in various regions throughout Indonesia," said the Director General of GTK, Nunuk Suryani, in Jakarta, (2/7).

The requirement to possess a teacher's certificate is also mandated by Law Number 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers. This regulation emphasizes that a teacher's certificate serves as formal proof that a teacher has met competency standards and is recognized as a professional.

Regarding registration requirements, the 2026 Prospective Teacher PPG program is open to Indonesian citizens who are not yet registered as teachers in Dapodik or Simpatika. Participants must be a maximum of 32 years old by December 31, 2026, hold a bachelor's or diploma IV degree registered in the Higher Education Database (PD-Dikti), and have a minimum GPA of 3.00. Participants are also required to complete all selection stages in accordance with applicable regulations.

Answering Teacher Needs in Various Regions

The opening of the 2026 Prospective Teacher PPG program is based on the projected need for teachers across Indonesia for 2027–2028. Thirty fields of study are available, comprising 18 general fields of study and 12 vocational fields of study, including Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD), Indonesian Language, English, Mathematics and Science, Physical Education, Special Education, and various vocational fields such as Automotive Engineering, Visual Communication Design, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Software and Game Development, and Computer Network and Telecommunication Engineering.

By opening fields of study based on real needs in the field, the government hopes that PPG graduates will be able to fill the teacher shortage in various regions and levels of education, both in public schools, private schools, and schools under other ministries.

PPG Lectures and Financial Support

The PPG program for prospective teachers is conducted over two semesters at the Teacher Training Institute (LPTK) that administers the program. The tuition fee for this program is Rp8.5 million per semester, or Rp17 million for two semesters. All tuition fees will be provided in the form of scholarships (government assistance) to participants who pass the selection process and are designated as PPG prospective teachers.

Meanwhile, participants are only charged a Rp 200,000 registration fee to participate in the administrative selection process and substantive test. Through the opening of the 2026 Prospective Teacher PPG (Vocational Teacher Training Program), the Ministry of Education and Culture encourages university graduates who are passionate about becoming professional teachers to take advantage of this opportunity. Prospective participants are encouraged to prepare the required documents to successfully complete the selection process.

Teachers serve not only as instructors but also as character builders and fosterers of a passion for learning. Through the PPG (School Teacher Training Program), the government prepares teachers who are professional educators and role models, enabling them to provide quality educational services to all students.

The stages and schedule of the selection are as follows: registration starts from June 27 to July 25, announcement of administrative selection results from July 26 to 28, substantive test from August 3 to 7, announcement of substantive test results from August 26, interview test from August 31 to September 16, and announcement of final selection results from September 21, 2026.

The 2026 PPG Teacher Candidate Selection will be conducted in stages to ensure that successful applicants possess both the academic and character competencies required for future educators. Applicants who fail any stage will not be able to proceed to the next stage.
