Denpasar, Bali, July 18, 2026 – Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Atip Latipulhayat visited Bali Province to directly monitor the implementation of the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) starting from kindergarten, elementary school to high school levels.

MPLS is a positive transition space for students from previous levels of education. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) ensures that old terms and practices that are intimidating or risk causing trauma, such as hazing, are completely replaced with activities that introduce students to the school environment and system in an educational manner.

"We are returning MPLS to its original purpose, which is to introduce students to their school environment in a friendly manner. Schools must be safe and comfortable environments that respect human dignity," explained Deputy Minister Atip during a visit to the Harapan Christian School Foundation in Denpasar on Friday (July 17).

During his visit to Harapan Christian School in Denpasar, Deputy Minister Atip directly monitored the final day of the MPLS (Student Learning Implementation Program) activities, which focused on introducing the school's extracurricular activities. He believes this is crucial for developing soft skills for the younger generation in the digital era and global challenges. "I see this extracurricular activity as a space for students to express themselves and to realize their interests outside the curriculum. This is crucial, as it contributes to character building, education, and the development of soft skills for the future," he said.

In line with this, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Suharti, commended the school for not only focusing on formal education but also on activities that support student character development, such as extracurricular activities. "This morning when I arrived here, I immediately saw the PAUD children and the kindergarten children performing various activities, and it was clear how well this foundation educates children. We sincerely hope that the children can grow up to be even better and become useful people," explained Suharti.

Harapan Christian School Foundation Denpasar offers education levels ranging from kindergarten to high school and vocational school, with a total of 1,165 new students enrolled. Daniel, the Vice Principal for Student Affairs at Harapan Christian High School, stated that the MPLS (Learning and Learning) program at Harapan Christian High School focuses on introducing a welcoming school culture and providing relevant materials for new students.

This aims to ensure students feel comfortable as they begin the learning process. The school is committed to providing a pleasant atmosphere. "The response has been incredibly enthusiastic; they're all happy to participate in the activities. You can probably see how excited the students are about today's MPLS activities because we're promoting a Friendly MPLS," explained Daniel.

To channel interests and talents, the school introduced 33 types of extracurricular activities, ranging from Nature Lovers (Pala), Paskibra, to arts such as Band and Dance, Daniel also added that this direction is important so that students have a clear picture of their activities at school.

Meanwhile, Ida Ayu Dewi, usually called Dayu, a grade X-2 student, shared her experience participating in MPLS at Harapan Christian High School, Denpasar. "It was fun during MPLS, and I was happy to be able to actively answer questions until I was awarded the most active title. Then there were outbound activities last Wednesday, such as introducing the posts here as well as the school map. So I could answer questions, play with friends, and solve problems together," said Dayu enthusiastically.

She also advised her friends not to be afraid to join the MPLS, as it not only introduces various school facilities but also serves as a way to build relationships without fear of bullying.
