Ahead of the First SNT MPLS, the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Strengthens School Principals and TPP

Tangerang Regency, Banten, August 7, 2026 - Ahead of the implementation of the first Integrated National School (SNT) Education Unit Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) on August 10, 2026, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti, provided reinforcement to the SNT principals and Learning Assistants (TPP) who will soon begin their duties at their respective schools.

This strengthening is a crucial part of preparing principals and TPPs to build a learning environment and culture for SNT from day one. In addition to ensuring readiness for learning, principals and TPPs are expected to be the driving force behind delivering quality educational services, fostering a safe and enjoyable school environment, and assisting each student in developing their full potential.

In the Education, Training, and Provisioning activities for school principals and TPP SNT in Tangerang Regency, Friday (7/8), the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education emphasized that school principals and TPP are an important part of the initial steps in implementing SNT.

"You are part of a new chapter in the history of Indonesian education. Let's make the dream of a Great Indonesia a reality through the achievements of our nation's children. Carry out this task with dedication, joy, and a passion for continuous learning," said the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education.

According to the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education, the success of SNT depends heavily on the quality of the principal and the educators who run it. Therefore, educators must not only master the learning material but also continually improve their own capacities to become mentors and sources of inspiration for students.

"Teachers must continue learning. We teach so that students learn, and at the same time, teaching is also a process for us to continue learning. Never stop improving your own capacity," said the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education.

The Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education also encouraged school principals and TPPs to utilize the open space for innovation in the development of SNT. As a growing educational unit, SNT is expected to develop various best learning practices by learning from the experiences of high-performing schools both at home and abroad.

According to him, these good practices can be a source of inspiration for building a culture of quality, without eliminating the space for principals and educators to innovate according to the needs of students and the character of each school.

The reinforcement provided ahead of the MPLS also serves as a momentum to emphasize that students' first days at SNT should be a positive experience. The principal and the TPP play a crucial role in introducing the school environment, fostering a sense of belonging, building healthy interactions among the school community, and instilling a culture of learning, discipline, collaboration, and a drive to achieve from the outset.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, and Non-Formal and Informal Education, Gogot Suharwoto, said that the school principals and TPPs had gone through a series of selection and training processes to prepare them to carry out this mandate.

The SNT Principal selection process is competitive. Approximately 8,000 principals participated in a multi-stage selection process until the principals who will lead SNT were selected. Meanwhile, the Teacher Training Institute (LPTK) selects the principals assigned to SNT from among approximately 60,000 qualified graduates of the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG).

During the briefing, participants not only received reinforcement on leadership and learning, but also coordinated with the Ministry of Education and Culture's Technical Implementation Units (UPT) regarding the readiness of educational institutions in their respective locations. This coordination included the readiness of classrooms, laboratories, and various learning facilities needed to support student activities.

The Director General of Gogot hopes that school principals and TPP can be the main driving force behind the development of SNT while ensuring that the spirit of quality education is truly felt from the moment students first enter school.

"Hopefully, this activity will enable school principals and TPPs to become key drivers of SNT development. SNT's presence is also expected to become a center of educational excellence, a catalyst for equitable quality, and a model for implementing learning based on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Sport ( STEMS), in-depth learning, and digital learning," said the Director General of Gogot.

The implementation of the MPLS on August 10, 2026, will be the first opportunity for principals and TPPs to translate the various results of this training into school life. Through strong leadership, educators who continue to learn, and a school culture oriented towards student development, SNT is expected to grow into a center of quality education that benefits not only SNT students but also the education ecosystem in the surrounding area.*** (Writer & Photographer: Destian / Editor: Destya)
