Jepara, Central Java, August 14, 2026 — For Devani Fara Maritza, joining the Jepara Integrated National School (SNT) 14 isn't just about changing schools. She sees it as an opportunity to develop her inherent potential.
Devani has won several awards, including the FTBI Sesorah Javanese Language Competition, the MAPSI Khitobah (Student Speech) Competition, and the National Science Olympiad (OSN) in the sciences. She learned about SNT through outreach from the Jepara Regency Government and was drawn to the learning environment and facilities it offered.
"SNT has facilities like a swimming pool and laboratories, as well as a Smart Classroom based on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics, and Sport (STEAMS). I want to receive more tailored guidance, meet friends who are passionate about learning, and develop my talents in languages, religion, communication, and science," said Devani.
Devani is one of 80 students in the first class of SNT 14 Jepara. They comprise two study groups (rombel) of 40 seventh-grade junior high school students and two 40 tenth-grade senior high school students.
Head of the Central Java Province BBPMP, Nugraheni Triastuti, said that the 80 students had passed the selection process and were declared to have passed through the achievement route.
"These eighty students have passed the selection process and were declared to have passed through the achievement route," said Nugraheni at the farewell of SNT 14 Jepara students.
According to him, learning at SNT doesn't just adhere to the national curriculum. Students will also receive learning based on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics, and Sports (STEAMS), as well as an approach that emphasizes local wisdom.
Currently, students are participating in the Educational Unit Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) at the BBPMP of Central Java Province on August 11–17, 2026. The MPLS series will close with the momentum of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17.
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti called the operation of SNT a significant milestone in the national education journey. He made this statement at the opening of the 17th SNT MPLS in Bogor, West Java, on Monday (August 10). "This is a historic milestone in the national education system," he said at the time.
The presence of SNT 14 Jepara also received a positive response from Jepara Regent Witiarso Utomo. He expressed his pride in Jepara being trusted as one of the SNT locations. "I am proud to contribute to the development of human resources in Indonesia, especially Central Java. We are trusted to receive SNT. Hopefully, this will be a momentum for the revival of education in Jepara," Witiarso said during the farewell ceremony for SNT 14 Jepara students at Pendopo Kartini Jepara.
He hopes that SNT will not simply add educational options but also become part of efforts to improve the quality of human resources in Jepara. Darojah, the principal of SNT 14 Jepara, emphasized that the use of technology in learning must continue to go hand in hand with character building. "We use technology as a tool to enrich learning, not to replace the role of teachers. Every use of technology is balanced with character building through discipline, responsibility, collaboration, digital ethics, and positive habits," he said.
At SNT 14 Jepara, students' potential is developed through academic and non-academic activities, such as arts, sports, religion, literacy, skills, extracurricular activities, and learning projects.
Darojah advised the students to not be afraid to dream and to continue to recognize their potential. "Don't be afraid to dream and don't compare yourself to others. Recognize your potential, dare to try, practice disciplinedly, and continue learning. Because every child is unique, and our job is to transform that uniqueness into strength and achievement."
For these 80 students, SNT 14 Jepara is more than just a new school. They are embarking on a journey as the first class to grow, learn, and develop their potential for the future.*** (Author: Shaka/Documentation: Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Team)
