Bogor, West Java, September 2, 2026 — The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to promote the strengthening of character education through learning experiences that foster independence, discipline, caring, and the ability to collaborate. This effort is realized through the 2026 Great Indonesia Children's Camp, themed "Safe Shoots, Comfortable Schools."

The event was attended by 407 junior high school students from various regions across Indonesia. The five-day event, held at Camp Hulu Cai in Bogor, West Java, was officially opened by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, and the Head of the National Scout Movement, Budi Waseso, on Monday (August 31).

"This activity is part of our character education strengthening program, which we implement using a humanistic, inclusive, and participatory approach, and a strengthening of the hidden curriculum . Scouting is one way we can strengthen character education with the spirit and patriotism of scouting. Scouting is also part of our efforts to foster a sense of patriotism, humility, and togetherness, in line with the camp's theme: 'Safe Tunas, Comfortable Schools,'" said the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education.

He emphasized that Scouting is not merely an extracurricular activity, but rather a means of character development through the experiences students undergo. The Scout spirit and the values of the Ten Commandments are expected to encourage students to build positive relationships with others, be responsible to their nation and state, and grow into disciplined, independent, and well-rounded individuals.

The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education hopes that the Great Indonesia Children's Camp will foster optimism in students as the nation's next generation. According to him, the "Tuncak" philosophy, a symbol of hope, optimism, and regeneration, inspires students to grow into great, independent, disciplined Indonesians, capable of building friendships and working together.

"Through this camp, we want all of you to become Indonesia's young talents, becoming great Indonesian children. Participate in all activities to the best of your ability, foster friendships, foster togetherness, and maintain discipline. And, of course, the hallmark of Scouting is cooperation and working together as we carry out all the tasks assigned to us," he said.

The Director General of Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Secondary Education at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Gogot Suharwoto, stated that the Great Indonesia Children's Camp is designed to implement the ministry's priority programs related to children. "The purpose and objective of the Great Indonesia Children's Camp is to cultivate a young generation with strong character, adaptability, collaboration, independence, resilience, and extraordinary leadership," Gogot explained.
