Bogor, West Java, September 2, 2026 — The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, received the Darma Bakti Badge from the Scout Movement as a token of appreciation for his dedication in supporting and developing the Scout Movement and character education for the younger generation. The award was presented by the Chairman of the National Scout Movement (Kwarnas), Budi Waseso, during the 2026 Great Indonesian Children's Camp at Camp Hulu Cai, Bogor, West Java on Monday (31/8).

The Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education expressed his gratitude for the award bestowed by the National Scout Movement Headquarters. He hoped the award would foster a sense of unity and togetherness, fostering the continued development of the Scout Movement in Indonesia.

"Thank you to Kwarnas and Brother Budi Waseso for your recognition of me. Hopefully, this will serve as a sign and a bond, lighting the fire of togetherness for Indonesian Scouts in the future," said the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education and Mentoring.

Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti emphasized the Ministry's commitment to making Scouting a part of student character building efforts. According to him, Scouting's position as a mandatory extracurricular activity is a means to foster patriotism and practice the values of the Scout Ten Commandments. He emphasized that extracurricular activities are not an end in themselves, but rather a means to shape student character through experience and habituation.

Budi Waseso, Chairman of the National Scout Movement, stated that the awarding of the Darma Bakti Badge is a token of appreciation for the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, who is considered to have initiated, encouraged, and encouraged the development of character education for the younger generation through the Scout Movement. He believes that the policy of making Scouting a mandatory extracurricular activity in schools is a crucial step in building a generation of Indonesians with character and integrity.

He noted that activities like the Great Indonesian Children's Camp align with Scouting's spirit, namely, shaping the younger generation through habits, experiences, role models, and real-life practices.

He hopes that support for the development of scouting education in educational units will continue, including through improving the competence of Scout leaders. Budi encouraged Scout leaders to take the opportunity to attend the Basic Advanced Course (KMD) and Advanced Advanced Course (KML), and that scout groups in schools continue to be organized and revitalized to optimally support character education. Scouting education needs to be continuously developed so that students not only have academic intelligence, but also independence, caring, discipline, the ability to work together, and the ability to face various life challenges in the future.

The awarding of the Darma Bakti Badge to the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education was stipulated through the Decree of the National Scout Movement Headquarters Number 109 of 2026 concerning the Awarding of the Darma Bakti Badge Award from the Scout Movement for his services that have been very significant for the development and development of the Scout Movement.
