Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education, September 12, 2026 — Deputy Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Atip Latipulhayat officially opened the book review event "Jakarta 1998: From Soeharto to Habibie (Economic Crisis, Trisakti Tragedy, and the Fall of the New Order)" held by the Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FPIPS), Indonesian University of Education (UPI). The event, which took place at the FPIPS Auditorium of UPI, became an academic space to review one of the important periods in the journey of Indonesian history. Through this activity, the academic community was invited to view the events of 1998 not only as a record of the past, but also as a source of learning for the current generation. The forum also became part of an effort to strengthen academic traditions, reading culture, and critical thinking skills in the university environment. Malang, East Java, September 20, 2026 – The 2026 National Science Olympiad (OSN) for Secondary Education (Dikmen), SMA/MA/SMK/MAK/Equivalent National Level, which was held on September 14-20, 2026 at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), took place in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Number 16 of 2026 concerning the Standards for Implementing Student Talent Events and the 2026 OSN guidelines. However, in its implementation, the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) found cheating in the implementation of the test. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), through the National Student Press Agency (Puspresnas), will take firm action in accordance with the regulations regarding the detected cheating. Malang, East Java, September 20, 2026 – The 2026 National Science Olympiad (OSN) for Secondary Education was officially closed by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Malang City, East Java, Saturday (19/9). A total of 566 science talents from various regions in Indonesia participated in the competition in nine branches of the event, namely astronomy, biology, economics, physics, geography, informatics, earth science, chemistry, and mathematics. Of the 566 finalists, 45 participants won gold medals, 90 participants won silver medals, and 135 participants won bronze medals. Meanwhile, in the Artificial Intelligence Competition Exhibition (EKKA), 2 participants won gold medals, 4 participants won silver medals, and 6 participants won bronze medals through Universal Participation, a collaboration between the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) with Cakrawala University and Casio. In the 2026 OSN medal tally, DKI Jakarta became the overall champion with 82 medals, consisting of 21 gold medals, 26 silver medals, and 35 bronze medals.
